Speaker ANow here's Ralph Estep 2.
Speaker AHello there.
Speaker AWelcome to Truth Unveiled with Ralph.
Speaker AI'm Ralph, and this is a new podcast from the Ask Ralph Media Network.
Speaker AMy main goal with this show is to take the everyday headlines.
Speaker AYou know, there's certainly a great deal going on these days and that stuff that can make you scratch your head or even tie your stomach in knots.
Speaker AWe're surrounded by so many crazy things going right now and I just want to simply lay it next to the timeless, comforting and the incredible, powerful truth of of God's word.
Speaker AThat's what this is all about.
Speaker AWe're not just here to learn stuff.
Speaker AWe could do that, but it's going to be so much bigger than that.
Speaker AWe're here to try to figure things out.
Speaker AWe're here to build up our faith and to find a real kind of freedom that really does last.
Speaker AAnd that freedom, not just in our bank accounts, but deep down in our hearts.
Speaker AWe're going to bring the worlds of faith and finance and all kinds of other things, technology, together.
Speaker AAnd today, I just wanted to start by talking about something I know is probably hitting close to home for you right now as you're listening.
Speaker AInflation.
Speaker AThink about it for a second.
Speaker AYou're standing at the grocery store, right?
Speaker AMost of us can relate to that.
Speaker AWe've been to the grocery store, and you go in to grab that milk and those eggs, and all of a sudden you see the price.
Speaker AThis is insane.
Speaker AAnd you do a double take.
Speaker AYou see to yourself, they're how much?
Speaker AAnd that little knot in your stomach starts to form.
Speaker AYeah, the one, you know, the one I'm talking about.
Speaker AAnd what used to feel normal.
Speaker AI'm just going to the grocery store, pick up a couple things.
Speaker AIt'd be a little bit of money.
Speaker ANow it just feels like an absolute punch in the gut.
Speaker AOr maybe your favorite show.
Speaker AYou've been eating it for years.
Speaker AYou look at that box and it just feels smaller.
Speaker AAnd when you open up the box, it feels like there's less in it, but the price is certainly more, even a lot more in some cases.
Speaker AOr maybe you're listening right now, and you run a small business, and every time you open up a bill for supplies, your heart just sinks, doesn't it?
Speaker ABecause you're looking at the numbers and you're thinking, hey, how much more can I charge my customers without losing my customers?
Speaker AHow much more am I going to have to charge to do the work that I've been doing for years?
Speaker AAnd now it just cost more and more and more to offer those services.
Speaker AOr you might be saying, look, I can't even pass it along to my customers, Ralph.
Speaker AHow much more can I just absorb without even hurting my own family?
Speaker AI'm already barely making it.
Speaker ANow, maybe you're listening right now, and you're at the gas pump.
Speaker AYou're watching those numbers just fly by.
Speaker AAnd as you're watching, you're doing the quick math.
Speaker AYou know, there's an hour.
Speaker AWell, there's another hour and yet another hour of money just to fill that tank of gas.
Speaker AYou're quietly saying to yourself, how am I ever going to save for that vacation?
Speaker AOr, hey, that idea of Retirement, that.
Speaker AThat ain't gonna happen.
Speaker AOr maybe you've been wanting to pay off those credit cards or build that emergency fund, but every single thing around you just keeps getting more and more expensive.
Speaker AAnd if you're like me, and I know you are, you work so hard, you watch every penny, and you try to be smart with your money, but even with all of that effort, even when you're doing all the right things, you're making all the right decisions.
Speaker ALet me ask you, do you ever feel like you're on this relentless treadmill, just running faster and faster and faster, but you're only falling further and further behind?
Speaker AIt's totally exhausting, isn't it?
Speaker AAnd it can feel completely defeating.
Speaker AMaybe you're listening right now.
Speaker AAre you feeling defeated?
Speaker AAnd then it brings a sneaky worry into your evenings, keeps you up at night as you wonder, what will I ever get ahead?
Speaker ACan I really give my family the security that I want to give them I work so hard for?
Speaker AAnd then you ask the next logical question, Ralph.
Speaker AWhat if this just keeps getting worse?
Speaker AI get it.
Speaker ASee, this feeling that the constant pressure, this sense that your money's values just keep slowly slipping away.
Speaker AWell, that, my friend, that's what I call the inflation illusion.
Speaker AYou might be saying, oh, Ralph has really lost his mind at this point.
Speaker AIf you listen to my daily show, you know, I talk about Christian faith and Christian finance, but I really do believe that this inflation is an illusion.
Speaker AIs it real?
Speaker AYes.
Speaker ABut it's an illusion because it tells us a lie.
Speaker ASee, that's what this show's more about.
Speaker AI'm going to get into the details.
Speaker AI'm going to get down underneath of the surface.
Speaker AThis illusion, it's because it tells us a lie.
Speaker AIt tells us a sinister lie.
Speaker AThat lie is this.
Speaker AIt's telling us that our real security, our deep peace, and bigger than that, our worth, are all somehow tied to how much money we have or what that money can buy.
Speaker AAnd here's the truly sinister part.
Speaker AThink about that for a second.
Speaker ASo if it's tied to that, if money loses value, guess what it tells us?
Speaker AOur hope does, too.
Speaker AOur hope loses value.
Speaker AThink about that for a moment.
Speaker AThe lie, if it's really true, then your worth is connected to how much money you have.
Speaker AAnd if the value of what the money is you have, it goes down, then you're basically worthless.
Speaker AThat's what the world is saying to you.
Speaker AAnd see, we live in a culture right now that screams at us to chase more, to pile up more, to worry Constantly when the numbers don't add up to that, that's what the world is telling us it's screaming at to us pile up more.
Speaker AAnd to constantly worry when the numbers just don't add up.
Speaker AAnd it's this never ending message that feeds on fear of not having enough.
Speaker AThat fear of scarcity, a constant hustle that just at the end of the day, and you're probably feeling this right now, it just leaves us tired and just plain worn out.
Speaker ABut now we have to pause for a second, ask is that really the truth?
Speaker AIs our hope actually found in something as up and down as market prices or the value of a dollar?
Speaker AIs it really that dark and dire?
Speaker AAnd is that really where we are?
Speaker ABecause this is the question you've got to answer right now as you're listening.
Speaker AIs that really the truth?
Speaker AIs that illusion really the truth?
Speaker AOr on the other hand, is there a deeper, stronger truth from God himself?
Speaker AEven when the world's money seems so unstable?
Speaker AMy friend, I want you to hear this loud and clear.
Speaker AThe answer is yes, there is.
Speaker AAnd it's a truth that can set you free from this heavy burden.
Speaker AAre you ready to be set free today?
Speaker AWell, let's open God's word together, the best place to find real stability and comfort and hear what he says about chasing money and finding security.
Speaker ASo if you've got a Bible, I want to encourage you to follow along.
Speaker AGo and grab your Bible and open it up first to Proverbs chapter 11, verse 28.
Speaker AI love the book of Proverbs.
Speaker AI use it on my daily show all the time because it's really God's ancient and true wisdom.
Speaker AAnd it says this.
Speaker AProverbs 11:28 says this.
Speaker AWhoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.
Speaker ALet's think about that for a second.
Speaker AWhoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.
Speaker ASee, the world yells, trust your investments, trust your savings.
Speaker AGo for that big promotion.
Speaker AIt yells it so loud sometimes it's hard to hear God's little whispering voice.
Speaker ABut God's wisdom says something different.
Speaker AGod's wisdom reminds us.
Speaker ANo, no, wait a second.
Speaker ANo, no, no.
Speaker AAnyone who trusts in their money, no matter how much they have, will eventually fall.
Speaker AIt's right there in the Scripture.
Speaker AWhoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.
Speaker ASee, that's God's wisdom.
Speaker ABut take it to the next level.
Speaker ABut those who trust in God, see, that's a decision to trust in God.
Speaker AWhat does it say?
Speaker AThey will thrive like a healthy green leaf.
Speaker AThink about the nicest plant you've ever seen.
Speaker ABig, healthy green leaves.
Speaker AThat's what God is promising us.
Speaker AAnd even when the economy around us feels dry and difficult, and like you said, everything just costs more and more and more.
Speaker AScripture tells us, but those who trust in God, they will thrive like a healthy green leaf.
Speaker AWhen I was thinking about this from Scripture, what Jesus himself, our Savior, said, this is from Matthew, chapter 6, verses 19 to 21.
Speaker AAnd you can't get much more direct than this.
Speaker AHe tells us this directly.
Speaker ADo not store up for yourself treasures on earth.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker AWhere moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.
Speaker ABut store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moss nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Speaker AAnd you ready for the big moment of this?
Speaker AAnd this is the big takeaway as we're going so far.
Speaker AFor where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Speaker AFor where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Speaker AWow.
Speaker AJesus himself saying to us, don't store up for yourselves things of the earth.
Speaker AAnd we live in this consumerism culture which, oh, go buy this.
Speaker AYou gotta have this.
Speaker AMore, more, more.
Speaker AYou think that's your treasure, but Jesus is saying, he's looking right in the face and going, no, that's not where your treasure is.
Speaker AYour treasure is in heaven.
Speaker AYour treasure is where your heart is.
Speaker AWhere's your heart?
Speaker AAnd see if you can embrace that.
Speaker AYou can feel the weight lift off of you as you hear those words.
Speaker ASee, Jesus doesn't say, hey, go try to beat inflation.
Speaker ADoesn't say that.
Speaker AWhat he says instead, don't even try to put your ultimate security here on Earth.
Speaker AThis isn't your permanent home.
Speaker AThis is your temporary home.
Speaker ASo don't even try to put your ultimate security here on Earth.
Speaker AOkay, Ralph, why I'm here on Earth?
Speaker AThe God of the universe put us here on Earth.
Speaker AWhy is Jesus saying to us, don't even try to put your ultimate security here on Earth.
Speaker AWe already answered the question.
Speaker ABecause everything on Earth can decay.
Speaker AI'm going to go a little steeper than that.
Speaker AEverything on Earth actually will decay.
Speaker AMoths are going to eat it, rust is going to take over, thieves are going to steal it, economies are going to crash.
Speaker AAnd yes, inflation keeps chipping away.
Speaker AAnd yes, your hard earned dollar today is literally worth less tomorrow.
Speaker ANot worthless, but worth less tomorrow.
Speaker AHere's a truth, Mom.
Speaker AYour investments can go up and down like a roller coaster.
Speaker AThey can, they will.
Speaker AIt's going to happen.
Speaker ABut the treasures you store up in heaven.
Speaker AHey, let me just tell you right now, you don't need a FDI insurance in heaven.
Speaker AFDIC insurance in heaven.
Speaker AYou don't need it.
Speaker ABecause the treasures you store up there, they are totally safe, untouched by any earthly problem, completely immune to inflation.
Speaker AThink about that for a second.
Speaker AAnd here's the real kicker.
Speaker AWherever you put your treasure, that's where your heart will be.
Speaker AYeah, that hurts, doesn't it?
Speaker AWhen you think about it, ask yourself right now, just pause for a second.
Speaker AWhere's your treasure?
Speaker AThat's piercing, isn't it?
Speaker ABecause if your treasure is in this shaky world, guess what?
Speaker AYour heart will feel shaky too.
Speaker AAlways looking for a stability that just isn't there.
Speaker AThe Lord himself said it.
Speaker AIt's not here.
Speaker AAnd listen to another clear message from Jesus.
Speaker ALook at the book of Luke, chapter 12, verse 15.
Speaker AHe warns us personally, be careful and guard against all greed, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
Speaker ABe careful, guard against does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
Speaker AGets right to the point, doesn't it?
Speaker ASee, it's that feeling like you need just a little more to feel safe.
Speaker AOh, I just need a little bit more in my savings account.
Speaker AI need a little bit more stuff.
Speaker AI need a little bit more in my retirement account.
Speaker AI need a little bit more house.
Speaker AI need a little bit more of this.
Speaker AI need.
Speaker AYou just need a little more to feel safe, to feel good enough to keep up.
Speaker ABut Jesus says something very different.
Speaker AAnd he says, watch out for that.
Speaker ABe on guard.
Speaker AYour life, your true value, your deep security, is not found in how much stuff you own.
Speaker AHear me on this.
Speaker AIt's not found in your bank account size.
Speaker AIt's not found in your car.
Speaker AIt's not found in your house.
Speaker ASee, because that's what the world defines as life.
Speaker ABut it's absolutely, unequivocally not God's definition.
Speaker ALet's finally take a look at this powerful truth from First Timothy, chapter 6, verses 6 to 10, because this cuts right to says this.
Speaker ABut godliness with contentment is great gain.
Speaker AFor we brought nothing into this world.
Speaker AWe brought nothing into this world.
Speaker AAnd we cannot take anything out of this world.
Speaker ABut if we have food and clothing with these we will be content.
Speaker ABut those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
Speaker AFor the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Speaker AIt is through this craving that some have Wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
Speaker AThink about the power in that verse of the Bible, those verses of the Bible.
Speaker AFor those who desire to be rich fall into temptation.
Speaker AIt's a snare, it's a trick, it's an illusion.
Speaker AMany foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
Speaker AHey, I don't know how much clearer you can say it.
Speaker AFor the love of money.
Speaker ANow, he's not saying.
Speaker AIn my opinion, he's not saying you can't have money.
Speaker ABut the love of it.
Speaker AIs that where your heart is?
Speaker ASee?
Speaker ACause that's a lot of people talk about, oh, money is the root of all.
Speaker AIt's not what it says.
Speaker AIt says the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil because that's where your heart is.
Speaker AAnd if your heart is in this earth, guess where it's not?
Speaker AIt's not in heaven.
Speaker AAnd that craving that we all are surrounded with, that craving have led people to wander away from their faith.
Speaker AAnd look at.
Speaker AI love this part of it.
Speaker AAnd pierced themselves.
Speaker AThe world didn't pierce them.
Speaker ACatch that?
Speaker AIt's a very important distinction here.
Speaker AAnd pierce themselves with many sorrows.
Speaker ASee, my friend, this is a total game changer.
Speaker AIt's completely opposite what culture tells us.
Speaker AAnd that right there can set you and set your soul free.
Speaker ABecause the world again yells, more money, more happiness.
Speaker AMore stuff.
Speaker AMore happiness, more this, more that, more happiness.
Speaker AGet, get, get.
Speaker AAnd it's loud, it's noisy, it's going on all around you.
Speaker AAnd everything that you ingest into your body, into your ears, into your mind, into your eyes.
Speaker ABut then God through his word is just gently whispering.
Speaker AAnd see, I say this to people all the time.
Speaker ASometimes we gotta shut up long enough to hear God talking to us.
Speaker ABut God, through his Word, whispers, this godliness with contentment is great gain.
Speaker AGodliness with contentment is great gain.
Speaker ASee, real wealth isn't just piling up stuff.
Speaker AYou're never gonna have enough stuff.
Speaker AThere's always gonna be something else.
Speaker ASomebody else has this somebody, oh, they got a nicer car, they got a nicer house.
Speaker AReal wealth isn't piling up stuff.
Speaker AIt's a deep, settled peace.
Speaker ASee, that's what real wealth is.
Speaker AReal wealth is peace.
Speaker AAnd that peace comes from being right with God, no matter how much you have materially.
Speaker ASee, that's countercultural.
Speaker AThe world will say, oh, no, you got to have material stuff.
Speaker AYou got to have that, because that shows you what your worth is.
Speaker ABut that's not peace.
Speaker AThat's not peace with God.
Speaker AAnd it's realizing that true treasure, true treasure isn't what you hold in your hand.
Speaker AYou can't hold this in your hand, but rather it's who you are in Christ.
Speaker ABut bigger than that, the most beautiful part of this and whose you are.
Speaker AAnd I want you to hear me loud and clear on this, because this doesn't mean we shouldn't try to be good with our money or manage our resources wisely.
Speaker ASo many people say, okay, Ralph, what you're saying then is, oh, it's all up to the Lord.
Speaker AThe Lord will provide.
Speaker AI'm just going to sit on my hands and do nothing?
Speaker ANo, that's not what I'm saying at all.
Speaker AI'm exactly saying the opposite of that.
Speaker AYou've got to manage your money.
Speaker AYou've got to steward your money.
Speaker ABut it does totally reset our hearts.
Speaker AWhen we embrace this, it changes everything.
Speaker AAnd it all starts with putting our faith and trust in God himself.
Speaker AWell, now let's really talk about the difference between what culture pushes and the way, the better way.
Speaker AI'll say that Christ lovingly shows us, especially when we're dealing with something like inflation.
Speaker AAnd I'm going to get to call it the inflation illusion.
Speaker AYes, it's real.
Speaker ABut let's start by looking at culture's way.
Speaker ASee, with culture, when inflation hits, it tells us our problem is simple.
Speaker AI don't have enough money or my money isn't worth as much.
Speaker AThat's what the world is.
Speaker AThat's what culture is saying.
Speaker AWhat does that do?
Speaker AIt makes us frantically try to get more and compare ourselves to our neighbors, compare ourselves to others, to live with this constant fear of not having enough.
Speaker ACulture is telling you to live in fear.
Speaker AAnd that broken path often leads to worry.
Speaker AIt leads to greed, and it leads to feeling defeated because we're always chasing something that just keeps moving farther and farther away.
Speaker AIt's like you're running for a touchdown and you see the goal line in front of you, but yet you continue running and the goal line just moving farther and farther away.
Speaker AAnd that cultural, worldly wisdom pushes us to trust only in ourselves.
Speaker AJust trusting yourself, earn more, invest better.
Speaker AYou can do this.
Speaker AIt's all about you.
Speaker AHey, be the best person you can be.
Speaker AThat's what culture says.
Speaker AIt promises security.
Speaker AThere's no security, but only gives us endless tiring struggles.
Speaker AThat's worldly wisdom.
Speaker AThat's what worldly wisdom is leading us to.
Speaker ABut, my friend, we've got something far better.
Speaker AWe've got God's way, or what I'll call biblical truth.
Speaker ASee, when you have that feeling, when you're living in biblical truth, we have this view.
Speaker AWe have a view when inflation hits, God understands the real financial pressure that we're feeling.
Speaker AHe gets it.
Speaker AGod understands it, he's not ignoring it.
Speaker ABut then when you feel that pressure gently and lovingly, it points you inside and up to him because you say, look, I know I can't do this myself.
Speaker AIt says this.
Speaker AIt says your ultimate security, your deepest peace, your true joy, and what wealth really means for you.
Speaker ASee, nothing, none of that can be based on something as weak and as fleeting as earthly money or unstable markets.
Speaker AThere is no stock market that compare to the market that God has given us and God has promised us.
Speaker ANow that's a radical, beautiful invitation to trust in God who never changes.
Speaker AGod's promises are never affected by inflation.
Speaker AAnd he will care for you endlessly and forever.
Speaker AAnd that path right there, that path brings deep contentment, generous giving and a hope that nothing can shake.
Speaker AYou can't shake that.
Speaker AWhy?
Speaker ABecause it rests on the solid, unchanging foundation of God's perfect character, not the shifting sands of the world's economy.
Speaker AThis truth, this truth, my friend, frees you from that never ending chase for more money and helps you live for what truly lasts.
Speaker ASee, the inflation illusion wants you to be scared.
Speaker AIt wants you to live in fear and to use all your energy chasing after things that break down, they lose value.
Speaker AAnd yes, it says it in the scripture, and finally fail, they fall.
Speaker AThat's what the illusion wants you to do.
Speaker AIt wants you to be scared, live in fear and chase and chase and chase and just wear yourself out till you break down and fall.
Speaker ABut God's truth is something so much bigger.
Speaker AGod is inviting you to unshakable peace, a deep contentment and a totally different kind of investment.
Speaker ABut that investment brings eternal joy.
Speaker AAnd again, I said it earlier, this doesn't mean that we ignore our money or act carelessly.
Speaker ASo many people don't understand that as good managers of God's gifts.
Speaker AAnd that's what they are, they're not ours.
Speaker AGod has given them to us.
Speaker ABut we are absolutely called to be smart and we're called to be careful, smart and careful managers.
Speaker ABut it does mean it's your ultimate hope, your deep peace and the real security and what truly flourishing means to you.
Speaker AIt's got to be rooted in something way more solid, way more solid than those changing interest rates or those economic reports that make you wonder, hey, do I Have anything left in my retirement?
Speaker AIs there anything left in my 401k?
Speaker ABecause in the storm, your anchor, your security is in God himself.
Speaker ABecause he's the same yesterday, he's the same today.
Speaker AAnd guess what?
Speaker AHe's going to be the same forever.
Speaker AAnd his kingdom, there's no shaky ground there.
Speaker AIt is totally solid.
Speaker AIt's completely untouched by any earthly inflation or crisis or market downturn.
Speaker AAny.
Speaker AIt is completely solid.
Speaker AAnd you can trust in that.
Speaker ASo now you're asking, Ralph, how do we actually live out this freeing truth when the grocery bill shocks us, Ralph, we still have to go to the grocery store.
Speaker AWe still got to buy the milk and the eggs, and we still got to sit there and pay for this stuff, Ralph.
Speaker AOr maybe when those business costs jump, or that worried feeling starts to sneak in.
Speaker AListen, I've been there.
Speaker AIt does scare you.
Speaker AYou might be listening right now.
Speaker AYou're trying to figure out, how am I going to pay next month's mortgage payment, or how am I going to pay the rent, or how am I going to make that car payment?
Speaker AHow am I going to find money for my kids to eat?
Speaker AAnd I'm promising you this hope.
Speaker ASo you're asking, how do we find that unshakable hope and actually take concrete, faithful action when the world feels financially shaky?
Speaker AThe good news is you're recognizing that, that the world is financially shaky.
Speaker ASo I want to give you some real actionable steps for both your money and your faith to help you see past that illusion of inflation and start building wealth that truly lasts.
Speaker AI got the answers for you right now.
Speaker AAnd that's what I'm going to talk about every week on this show.
Speaker ALet's start with this.
Speaker ALet's start with some money steps.
Speaker AThese are some financial actionable steps.
Speaker ANumber one thing, make a God first budget and stick to it.
Speaker ANow, I know.
Speaker ABudget yourself.
Speaker AOh, Ralph, here we go with the budget things.
Speaker AOh, how boring is that?
Speaker AA bunch of restrictions, but it's a powerful way to live out your faith.
Speaker ASee, that budget is a demonstration of your faith, your trust, living out the management skills that God is asking you to live out.
Speaker ASo I'm just going to encourage you this week, set aside some quiet time and really look at your income and what you spend.
Speaker ALook at the data, and it's easy to look at the data.
Speaker ABut I'm going to tell you to go one step further, because when you're done that budget.
Speaker AHere's the thing.
Speaker AA lot of people don't want to talk about.
Speaker AYour budget should show what matters to you and to your faith.
Speaker AWhen I look at somebody's budget, I look at the first thing on their line.
Speaker AAnd if it doesn't say giving tithes, offerings at the very top, I'm questioning.
Speaker AAnd I'm not judging.
Speaker ADon't misunderstand me.
Speaker AI'm not judging.
Speaker AWhat goes at the top is what matters to you and your faith.
Speaker ASo I'm going to encourage you.
Speaker APut giving at the top.
Speaker AStart it at the very top.
Speaker AThe Bible talks routinely about giving your first fruits back to God.
Speaker AHey, listen, I've said it on my other show a million times.
Speaker AIt's not yours to begin with.
Speaker AYou're just there to manage it.
Speaker ASecond thing, put savings for emergency.
Speaker AYour second item, giving first, saving for emergency second, and paying off debt third.
Speaker AYou're like, wait a minute, Ralph, how do I get to my everyday living expenses?
Speaker AYeah, that's number four.
Speaker AYou're like, wait a minute, Ralph, that doesn't make any sense.
Speaker AIt will make sense, trust me.
Speaker AGiving, saving, paying off debt, and then your everyday living expenses, you might be okay, great, that sounds good, Rob.
Speaker ABut a budget?
Speaker AYou talk about budget all the time.
Speaker ABut why do I start with something like a budget?
Speaker ABecause this isn't just about managing money.
Speaker AThat's part of it, but there's a much deeper, more important part of it.
Speaker ASee, a budget is about telling God that you are my ultimate provider.
Speaker AEspecially when it starts with giving.
Speaker AThink about that.
Speaker ASaving.
Speaker AAnd it's saying to God that your kingdom comes first in my life.
Speaker AAnd see, when you honor him first, even if it feels a bit tight.
Speaker AAnd trust me, I've been there, Ralph, I'm struggling to pay my bills, dude.
Speaker AAnd you're saying to me to give first?
Speaker AYes, I'm saying that to you.
Speaker AIt's going to take a little faith.
Speaker ABut when you do that, even when it feels tight, you're leaning into his amazing promises to take care of you.
Speaker AAnd I'm going to tell you right now, you will never out give God.
Speaker AHis resources are unimaginable, but it's a real step of faith that breaks, and it breaks the hold of that inflation illusion on your heart.
Speaker ASee, the inflation illusion tells you scarcity is real, but it's not when you truly put God first.
Speaker AAnd I'm listen, I'm not some, hey, prosperity preacher.
Speaker AIt's not what I'm saying.
Speaker AYou never heard me one time say not to manage your money.
Speaker ABut I did say, put him first.
Speaker ASo now you're saying, okay, Grof, that sounds good.
Speaker AHow do I even do a budget.
Speaker AI don't even know what that looks like.
Speaker AAnd I'm going to tell you right now, you don't need any fancy tools.
Speaker AYou don't need the.
Speaker ANo Excel or whatever number, whatever.
Speaker AI don't care what it is.
Speaker AEven a simple spreadsheet, a budgeting app, or listen, this is real simple, just a pen and paper.
Speaker AAnd then you just got to be honest about where your money goes.
Speaker AYou got to put it out there, then pray it, pray about it and find one or two areas where you can intentionally cut back.
Speaker AThat's the way that you start to put God first in your budget.
Speaker AMaybe that means fewer meals, eating out, they're expensive, or canceling a subscription.
Speaker AYou don't really use.
Speaker AOh to free up money for giving and savings.
Speaker AAnd see, this isn't about going without.
Speaker AIt's not about restriction.
Speaker ABut it is about intentional prioritization that's rooted in your faith.
Speaker AAnd guess what?
Speaker AIt's designed to.
Speaker AIt's designed for freedom.
Speaker ASecond thing I'm going to encourage you to do.
Speaker AAnd a lot of people.
Speaker AI'm going to lose some people right now when I say this.
Speaker ALook at your investments with God's big picture in mind.
Speaker ANow, if you've got investments, stocks, bonds, maybe you own a small business or you own some property, some rental properties, I want you to take some time and pray about their real purpose.
Speaker AWhat did he just say?
Speaker AYeah, their real purpose.
Speaker AAsk yourself this.
Speaker AAnd again, this takes a little courage.
Speaker AAsk yourself, are they just for me to get richer or can they be used as a powerful tool for God's glory and his work in the world?
Speaker AAre they just for me to get richer?
Speaker AStocks, bonds, family business, small business, property.
Speaker AAre they just there for me to get richer?
Speaker AOr is God giving me these to use as a powerful tool for his glory and his work in this world?
Speaker AYou might be saying, Ralph, why are you asking that?
Speaker AWell, I'm asking it because.
Speaker ALook at Matthew 6.
Speaker AWhat did it tell us to do?
Speaker AIt reminds us to store up treasures in heaven, not just on earth.
Speaker AAnd listen, it's good idea to manage our earthly money wisely, but that cannot be our main investment account.
Speaker AOur main investment account always needs to be in things that last forever.
Speaker AAnd guess what?
Speaker AThis world is going to pass away.
Speaker ASo we've got to be putting things that last forever, things that make an eternal difference.
Speaker AAnd see, once you start to have that mindset, that way of thinking helps you stop just trying to beat the market and start serving a bigger, more important purpose.
Speaker AAnd now you're saying, okay, Ralph, that's great, but how do I make that happen?
Speaker AHow do I even invest this way?
Speaker AOne of the things you gotta really think about doing is maybe you need to pray about how to use your profits to bless others, go back to that budget.
Speaker AAre you giving generously?
Speaker AAre you supporting ministries, doing God's work?
Speaker AHey, maybe you're not even researching the companies that truly line up the biblical values for your investments.
Speaker AYou may have to make a decision to move away from simply looking at the returns.
Speaker AOh, oh, this route, this guy got me set up with this investment, it's given me a 10% return on 12% return.
Speaker ABut have you ever looked at their values, the values of the companies you're investing in?
Speaker AYou have them in high regard, but are your values being destroyed?
Speaker ALet me be frank, and this is going to be something that's a bit controversial, but I'm going to say something bold and I'm going to say it straight up.
Speaker ANow, as a Christian, if you say to me, ralph, I am a Christian, you should not be investing in companies that openly support sin, that openly support false doctrine or any other stand which is clearly against the true word of God.
Speaker AYes, that's bold.
Speaker ABut these times call for bold action.
Speaker AI said at the beginning, we're surrounded by all kinds of craziness.
Speaker ASo ask yourself, are you investing in companies that openly support sin, that teach false doctrine, or stand on which is clearly against the true word of God?
Speaker AI know that's bold, but it takes boldness to break this cycle and truly stand with the good Lord himself.
Speaker ASee, the main idea here is to hold your money with an open hand.
Speaker AYou're like, what does that mean, Ralph?
Speaker AWell, if your hand is open, you're ready to use it as God leads you instead of clinging to it out of fear, like you're so afraid you're going to lose it.
Speaker ABecause, my friend, what you can do is you can let your investments be a way to worship God.
Speaker ANow, I told you I'd talk about money.
Speaker ALet's talk about things that aren't related to money.
Speaker ALet's talk about some faith steps.
Speaker ABecause that's the reason I really wanted to do this new I wanted to share some faith actionable steps.
Speaker AAnd I want to encourage you.
Speaker AHere's one of the things I'm going to encourage you to do right away.
Speaker AAnd this one will sound sort of counterintuitive at first, but I want you to make a daily gratitude a spiritual battle strategy.
Speaker AMake daily gratitude your spiritual battle strategy.
Speaker ABecause this is powerful, friend.
Speaker AI want to encourage you at the beginning of each day and at the start of each day, I want you to consciously out loud or in a journal.
Speaker AHey, I even better go shout at the rooftops.
Speaker AI just want you to think about three, four or five things that you are genuinely thankful for.
Speaker ADo we ever take the time to do that anymore?
Speaker AI want you to especially focus on how God has taken care of you, no matter how small or how obvious it seems.
Speaker AThe food you have, the roof over your head, a steady job, clean water, your family.
Speaker AEvery single one of these is a precious gift that you didn't earn.
Speaker AWait a minute, Ralph, I might work.
Speaker ANo, you didn't earn it.
Speaker AGod gave it to you.
Speaker AAnd now you're asking, Ralph, why start with gratitude?
Speaker ABecause this is a superpower.
Speaker ASee, gratitude is the strongest weapon I know against fear.
Speaker AIt's a strong weapon against discontentment.
Speaker AIt's a strong feeling against that feeling of not enoughness.
Speaker ABecause that's what the inflation illusion loves to sell you.
Speaker AGratitude is being intentional and it powerfully shifts your focus from what you feel is missing.
Speaker AIt's so easy to talk about, well, I don't have this and I don't have that, and this one has this and this one has that.
Speaker ABut see, gratitude, it shifts that focus.
Speaker AIt moves it away from what you're missing or what's losing value to what God has already faithfully and amazingly provided to you.
Speaker AYou just have to look around and say, thank you Lord, I see it.
Speaker AThank you.
Speaker AAnd that, my friends, is a daily choice to pick joy over worry and trust over fear.
Speaker AAnd if you want to beat this, this is critical.
Speaker AAnd now you're saying, okay, Ralph, I agree with you.
Speaker AYou sold me, I want to buy it.
Speaker ABut how do I do that?
Speaker AAnd that really is a great question because I want to encourage you to do a few things.
Speaker AI think one of the things that you can definitely do is keep a small notebook by your bed or in your kitchen or, or maybe call it your gratitude journal.
Speaker AMaybe you've always got your phone in your hand.
Speaker AUse a notes app and just tend a few quiet minutes praying and thanking God for these blessings.
Speaker ADo it twice, three times a day.
Speaker ABecause I will assure you of something that simple habit can totally change how you see things.
Speaker AIt is powerful and it will totally see how you change things one day at a time.
Speaker ASecond thing, as it relates to non financial things, I want to ask you, how do you anchor your soul?
Speaker AHow do you anchor your soul?
Speaker AIs your soul anchored in earth or Is it in God?
Speaker ASee, because God has an unchanging character and promises.
Speaker AI ask you again, how do you anchor your soul?
Speaker AOkay, Ralph, what does that mean?
Speaker AWell, I want you to set aside dedicated quiet time each day, or maybe a few times a week, to read the Scriptures.
Speaker ANot just read them like, oh, I got through this verse.
Speaker AI got through this one.
Speaker AI said I was going to read the whole chapter.
Speaker ABut not just read it, but really think about it and be bold.
Speaker ASay Scriptures out loud to talk about God's steady faithfulness, his endless ability to provide and how he never, ever changes.
Speaker AAnd now you're saying, ralph, why do I do this?
Speaker AWell, here's why.
Speaker ABecause when the world feels crazy, when it feels shaky, and trust me, if you're riding along the same bus I'm on, it feels shaky.
Speaker AAnd when the world feels financially uncertain, our hearts are crying out for some rock solid, unmoving anchor.
Speaker AAnd I know what that anchor should be for your life.
Speaker ASee, God's promises are not affected by inflation.
Speaker AGod's promises are not affected by bad economies or world events.
Speaker AYes, they're all going on around us.
Speaker AAs I said earlier, he's the same yesterday, he's the same today, and he'll be the same forever.
Speaker AAnd that truth right there will give you a peace that cannot be shaken, no matter what's happening around you.
Speaker AFocus on verses like the 23rd Psalm, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
Speaker AOr Philippians 4:19, and my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Speaker AOr Lamentations, chapter 3, verses 22 and 23.
Speaker AThe steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
Speaker AHis mercies never come to an end.
Speaker AThey are new every morning.
Speaker AGreat is your faithfulness now.
Speaker AI went through those fast.
Speaker AI'm going to encourage you.
Speaker ADon't just read them fast.
Speaker ALet them sink deep into your spirit, deep into your soul, especially into those anxious part of your heart.
Speaker AWhat do we say?
Speaker AWhere your heart is, where your treasure is.
Speaker ADon't be afraid to talk to God about them.
Speaker ALook up and say, don't, God, I'm scared.
Speaker ATell him your fears.
Speaker ATell them your fears.
Speaker AAnd then intentionally replace those fears with these God loving truths.
Speaker AGod truly wants to hear from you.
Speaker AGod wants to bring you to a place of peace.
Speaker AAnd he wants to bring you to a place of peace where all your trust is firmly placed in him.
Speaker AListen to me.
Speaker AThe inflation illusion is a real heavy pressure that tries to steal your peace and it tries to steal your hope.
Speaker AIt tells you to measure your worth and your security by numbers that are constantly changing, by money that buys less and less.
Speaker ABut as a beloved child of God, you are called to live by a far bigger, far more amazing truth.
Speaker AAnd as I said earlier, yes, you're called to be smart with your money, to work hard and to manage it wisely.
Speaker ABut most importantly, hear me on this.
Speaker AYou're called to put your complete trust in a God whose wealth never goes down, whose promises are never affected by inflation, and whose loving presence is your greatest, safest, and most abundant treasure anywhere.
Speaker AAnd I want you to know this.
Speaker AYou are absolutely not alone in this fight.
Speaker AGod sees your worry.
Speaker AGod sees your hard work.
Speaker AAnd he knows your deep desire to take care of your family.
Speaker AAnd what he's offering you is not some quick fix, quick, oh, overnight success.
Speaker AIt's not what God's offering, but what he is offering is a hope that lasts forever and cannot be shaken.
Speaker AHe offers you a way to thrive like that healthy green leaf in the Book of Proverbs, even when the world around you seems to be wilting.
Speaker ASo I just want to encourage you, let's choose today, together, to see past this illusion.
Speaker ALet's choose contentment that makes no sense to the world, crazy generosity that shows his heart, and a steady faith knowing deep down that your true worth and your true wealth are not measured by a dollar that goes up and down, but by your eternal, unbreakable relationship with the one who owns everything.
Speaker AThis week, friend, be brave.
Speaker AI encourage you.
Speaker AJust take one of these steps.
Speaker AMaybe it's starting that daily Gratitude Journal, or maybe it's just sitting down and truly faithfully putting giving first in your budget.
Speaker AAnd as you take that one step of faith, just one, even a small one, I'm praying that you'll feel a huge shift in how you see things, and you'll find a peace that goes beyond the headlines and a real sign of God's amazing faithfulness in your money and deep into your soul.
Speaker AAnd as we finish up today, friend, I wanted to talk to you about something even deeper than our money.
Speaker ASomething that's far more important than any problem or inflation.
Speaker AIf you've been listening today, perhaps you're feeling a heavy weight of the world on you.
Speaker AYou're feeling that emptiness deep inside that no amount of money or trying harder can truly fill.
Speaker AMaybe, just maybe, your heart's been nudged to realize that the only real, lasting security and peace comes from God himself.
Speaker AAnd right now, perhaps you've never truly given your whole life to Jesus Christ.
Speaker AYou might have heard about him, but haven't really taken that step of trust and taken that step of trusting him completely.
Speaker ALet me tell you about Christ.
Speaker ASee, he's the one who beats sin.
Speaker AHe's the one who beat death.
Speaker AAnd yes, he even beat the worries of this world.
Speaker AAnd he offers not just good money advice, but eternal life and a relationship with God that absolutely nothing can shake or nothing can steal.
Speaker AAnd friend, if you're listening right now and you feel that gentle push, that feeling in your heart right now, is your heart saying yes, I want to invite you to pray this simple prayer with me right now from the deepest part of your heart.
Speaker AJust say this.
Speaker ADear Heavenly Father, I know I'm a sinner and I really need your forgiveness.
Speaker AAnd I believe with all my heart that Jesus Christ is your son, that he died on the cross for my sins and that you powerfully raised him from the dead.
Speaker AAnd I confess my sins to you right now and I humbly ask you to come into my life, forgive my sins.
Speaker AI give my life to you today completely.
Speaker AI choose to follow you, Jesus, as my Lord and my Savior, starting now and forever.
Speaker AThank you for your amazing love and for the precious gift of eternal life.
Speaker AAmen.
Speaker AWow.
Speaker AIf you prayed that prayer or even if you're just thinking about it, please know, friend, that heaven is celebrating your decision right now.
Speaker AThere is a huge party going over in heaven right now because your decision, you're now a loved child of God and your real wealth is safe with him and.
Speaker AAnd it's safe with him forever.
