I'm out walking this morning, and it's a rainy day.
Speaker AIf you listen to my show at all, you know, I've been working on losing weight and getting in shape for the past several years.
Speaker AAnd honestly, there are days that I just do not feel like getting out and walking.
Speaker AHonestly, today's one of those days.
Speaker AJust a sort of a raw and rainy, nasty day.
Speaker AAnd I have this goal in front of me.
Speaker AI want to be healthy.
Speaker AI want to live a full and prosperous life.
Speaker AAnd it made me think about those of you who are dealing with financial struggles that I bet there are days.
Speaker ABecause seriously, I haven't.
Speaker AI bet there are days when you just do not feel like really paying attention to what you're spending or tracking what you're spending or living on that budget.
Speaker AAnd I get it.
Speaker ABecause you listen to my daily show, you probably think, well, Raph's got all this stuff together.
Speaker AHe's always got the right answer.
Speaker AHe's got, here's what I need to do.
Speaker AAnd.
Speaker ABut you're like most people, there are some days you're like, I just don't feel like doing this route.
Speaker AI don't.
Speaker AI just want you to know, I feel you on that one.
Speaker AI get it.
Speaker AIt's not easy to make wise financial decisions every day.
Speaker AIt's not easy to track everything you're spending every day.
Speaker AIt's not easy to decide not to do those impulse buys to make wise financial choices.
Speaker AAnd I thought about it and I said, we try to do it ourselves.
Speaker AWe probably won't make it very far, will we?
Speaker AIt's one of the whole reasons that I just started to do this daily show, the financially confident Christian, because, yes, I want you to be financially confident.
Speaker ABut we all have to recognize that the reason that we can get to that level of financial confidence is because of Christ, that I think it's so easy to lose sight of that.
Speaker AIt's so easy to get stuck in our own world of trying hard and having failures.
Speaker AIf you're looking for perfection, you're going to be very sad about it because you're not going to find perfection.
Speaker AAll about perseverance.
Speaker AIt's all about staying the course during those times that you really don't feel like staying the course.
Speaker AThis morning I was thinking, man, it'd be really nice to just sit in the house today, put my feet up, eternal Netflix, or watch something on TV to kind of vague out a little bit.
Speaker ABut I have this commitment to continue my good health habits and losing weight so I can eventually be around for maybe some grandkids down the road.
Speaker AAnd it made me think of this financial journey that we're on.
Speaker AIt's very much a journey.
Speaker AIt's a lot of people think it's a sprint.
Speaker AFinancial decisions are not a sprint.
Speaker AThey are definitely a journey.
Speaker AIt's a marathon.
Speaker AAnd I thought, well, how can we maintain that ability to stay on what we need to stay on?
Speaker AI found this verse from James 1:12 that says, Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
Speaker AAnd I thought, there's power in that.
Speaker AThose who persevere will pass the test under trial.
Speaker ABecause, hey, listen, if you're like me, every day is a trial.
Speaker AHonestly, you never know what's around the next bend.
Speaker AThis rainstorm today, in a lot of ways, this is a trial.
Speaker ARalph, can you get out there and walk?
Speaker AToday my dog's here walking alongside me.
Speaker AIt's not phased by the rain at all.
Speaker AI've got the raincoat on.
Speaker AI've got the umbrella in my hand as I'm recording this, as I'm walking along the farm.
Speaker AHey, even the cows are in the barn today.
Speaker AThey said, I had enough of this.
Speaker AWhat tests are you facing right now?
Speaker AWhat financial tests are you facing right now?
Speaker AYou feel that need to impulse buy today?
Speaker AAmazon calling your name?
Speaker AIs that Starbucks, whatever they call them, triple shot latte, upside down thing.
Speaker AI don't even know what they are.
Speaker ADon't really go there.
Speaker AI don't drink coffee at all.
Speaker AWhat's testing you today?
Speaker AWhat's pulling you in that direction of, you know, I'm just going to leave a little bit off the.
Speaker AOff the plan today.
Speaker ALet's skip that walk today.
Speaker AI'm going to skip protecting my money today.
Speaker AI'm going to do some impulse buying.
Speaker AThis Bible verse should reassure us because it says, having stood the test, that person will receive crown of life that the Lord has promised them.
Speaker AAnd see, that's where I think there are days when we're having those tough days.
Speaker AThe best thing you can do, honestly, the best thing you can do, just take a quick prayer and say, lord, guess what?
Speaker AToday is one of the news days.
Speaker ALet me tell you right now, where I left the houses, where.
Speaker AThat's a very conversation I was having with God.
Speaker AMan, it's raining out there.
Speaker AI don't need this.
Speaker AI don't need to do this today.
Speaker AWe can skip today.
Speaker AI'll be okay.
Speaker AAnd it's Funny about that time on my apple watch popped up my activity goal.
Speaker AI haven't missed a day of hitting my exercise goal for 355 days as of yesterday.
Speaker AAnd reminded me of that this morning.
Speaker AAnd I said, you know what, God?
Speaker AGive me a subtle little, little tip there, so I guess I better take it and walk.
Speaker ABut I just felt like this morning you needed to hear that.
Speaker APersevere.
Speaker AYeah, There are going to be days when you're like, I've had enough.
Speaker AI give up.
Speaker AI'm going back to the way I used to be.
Speaker ABut don't lose sight of what the Scriptures tells us.
Speaker AJust don't lose sight of that today, because what does it say here?
Speaker ABlessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord promised to those who love him.
Speaker ADo you love the door today?
Speaker AIs today one of those days?
Speaker AYou got to lean into them a little harder.
Speaker AHow about we pray together right now, Lord, we come to you today.
Speaker AWe come to you broken, Lord.
Speaker AWe come to you having one of those days maybe, where it's just.
Speaker AJust don't feel like doing it today, Lord.
Speaker AI just want to not do it.
Speaker AI just don't want to.
Speaker AI don't want to push today, Lord.
Speaker ASo we just ask that you would help us to persevere, Lord.
Speaker AYour word says that the one who perseveres under trial, Lord.
Speaker AAnd in many ways, we feel like we're under trial today, Lord.
Speaker ANo, I feel like I'm under trial today, Lord.
Speaker AHelp me to stand that test, Lord.
Speaker AIf anyone else is listening right now and they're going through a test, Lord, I ask that you would help them to stand that test and be strong in this courageous battle.
Speaker ALord, you promised to give us the crown of life.
Speaker AAnd, Lord, we do love you.
Speaker AThank you for the many gifts you gave us, Lord.
Speaker AAnd maybe today's one of those days where we just need to think of those things that we're grateful for, Lord.
Speaker AHealthy body and place to live, food on the table, maybe family that surrounds us, Lord.
Speaker ASo we just.
Speaker AWe just praise you, Lord, today for that.
Speaker AAnd thank you for the provision you give us every day.
Speaker AAnd, Lord, help us to not take those things for granted.
Speaker AHelp us to persevere in these difficult times when life gets hectic and honestly, life gets hard.
Speaker AHelp us to be strong.
Speaker AHelp us to be faithful, Lord.
Speaker AWe ask this with complete confidence in the name of Jesus.
Speaker AAmen.
Speaker AWell, I hope today's message has reached you.
