- Tithing isn't just about giving money; it's about obedience and being disciplined with finances.
- Many people think God’s blessings are just cash, but sometimes it’s wisdom and peace instead.

Got a great question on the email today, and it said this.
Speaker AIt says, ralph, my pastor says if I just tithe faithfully, God will bless my finances.
Speaker ABut I'm tithing every week and I'm still drowning in debt.
Speaker AStressed about bills, and nowhere near blessed.
Speaker AThey go on.
Speaker AGreat.
Speaker AHonestly, I feel like I'm doing my part, but God isn't showing up.
Speaker AAm I doing something wrong or is this whole idea just not true?
Speaker ALet me start by saying thank you for being honest.
Speaker AA lot of people wouldn't come out and say that.
Speaker AAnd I know thousands of people might be listening to this right now, and they feel the same way you do.
Speaker ASo thank you so much for sharing that.
Speaker ABut so many people are afraid to admit that, yes, you're giving, you're praying, I'm assuming, yet your finances still feel stuck.
Speaker AAnd trust me, I've been there.
Speaker AYou can feel like your faith is completely shaken.
Speaker ABut here's the hard truth.
Speaker AA lot of people don't want to hear this.
Speaker ATithing isn't a lottery ticket.
Speaker ASo many people that I've met said, oh, Ralph, I'm going to do the right thing.
Speaker AGod's going to bless this.
Speaker AI'm going to.
Speaker AI'm going to tithe every week.
Speaker AI'm going to do all this sort of things.
Speaker AAnd they feel like they're in front of a slot machine or a lottery ticket.
Speaker AThey're going to pull the lever and God's going to drop this on them.
Speaker ASee, a lot of people think that there's.
Speaker AAnd unfortunately, there's this false notion out there.
Speaker AI call them the prosperity preachers.
Speaker AThey feel like they give money, they get money.
Speaker AWell, that's not what the Bible says.
Speaker AThat's not what the gospel says.
Speaker AThat's prosperity teaching.
Speaker AI talk about that on my show all the time.
Speaker ALook at the book of Malachi 3:10.
Speaker AIt says, Bring the whole tithe into the store.
Speaker ALuke 16:11 says, if you've not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
Speaker ASee, the thing is, so many people think God's blessing is just going to show up like cash in your hand, like you're going to get this mystery deposit.
Speaker ABut you need to realize sometimes God's blessing looks completely different.
Speaker AIt looks like things like wisdom or provision or maybe peace in the middle of stress.
Speaker AMan, we can all use that.
Speaker AAnd here's the missing piece.
Speaker AA lot of people don't get this part.
Speaker ATithing is just the beginning.
Speaker ATithing is obedience.
Speaker ABut the real mystery to this, the real Secretness is stewardship.
Speaker AAnd see, stewardship.
Speaker AI talk about that on my daily show all the time.
Speaker AStewardship is discipline.
Speaker AAnd see, God calls us to do both.
Speaker AHe wants us to be obedient, and he also wants us to have discipline.
Speaker ASo let's get practical for a second.
Speaker AIf you're giving but you're still drowning in credit card debt, the tithe alone isn't going to outrage your debt.
Speaker AThat tithe doesn't go to the credit card companies that pay it off.
Speaker AWhat God is really saying to you is, maybe it's time to start budgeting.
Speaker AMaybe God's saying to you, it's time to cut back.
Speaker AIt's time to have a debt reduction plan.
Speaker AIt's time to attack that debt.
Speaker AI talk on the show all the time about Proverbs 22:7, about how the borrower is slave to the lender.
Speaker ABut I want you to understand something.
Speaker AI want you to hear this loud and clear.
Speaker AYour giving is not wasted.
Speaker AGod sees it.
Speaker AHe sees that obedience.
Speaker ABut he also wants you to align your financial life with his principles.
Speaker AThat's the thing a lot of people don't understand.
Speaker AWell, I'm going to go give on Sunday.
Speaker AI'm going to do all the right things, Ralph.
Speaker ABut are you aligning your finances with your faith?
Speaker ASee, sometimes the real blessing isn't a check in the mail.
Speaker AI've heard so many people say, rob, I've been praying and praying.
Speaker AI hear these people all the time.
Speaker AThey pray, and then all of a sudden a check comes in the mail they weren't expecting.
Speaker AWell, sometimes it's not what God's going to give you.
Speaker ASometimes it's freedom from debt.
Speaker AOr maybe it's just peace when you have to make that tough decision, when you have to say to your kids, we can't afford that right now.
Speaker ASo my challenge is this.
Speaker ADon't stop giving.
Speaker ADon't stop doing it.
Speaker ASo many people just say, ralph, I'm giving up.
Speaker AI'm not doing anymore.
Speaker ABut also, don't stop managing your debts either.
Speaker ABecause the truth is, God blesses the faithful steward, not just the faithful giver.
Speaker AIt's a book of things.
Speaker AWhy don't we pray together, Lord?
Speaker AWe just know right now that you're challenging us sometimes, Lord, and we're doing the things that we think we should be doing.
Speaker AWe're being cheerful givers, Lord, but we're not seeing anything coming back to us.
Speaker ALord, help us to have a contrite heart, Lord.
Speaker AHelp us to see this not only as obedience, but as discipline.
Speaker AAs well, Lord, give the listeners wisdom, Lord.
Speaker AGive them courage to change their habits, Lord.
Speaker AAnd most of all, give them peace as they work through their financial situations to try to break that cycle of financial shame and do it with confidence.
Speaker AAnd I ask this incomplete confidence in the name of Jesus, amen.
Speaker AI just want to thank you for joining me today.
Speaker AI out for a little walk here on the farm.
Speaker AIt's strange that it's in August, it's about 60 degrees.
Speaker ABut I was thinking about what can I talk about today?
Speaker AAnd God said, hey, you know what?
Speaker AA lot of people understand the obedience side, but it's discipline as well.
Speaker ASo I'm just going to encourage you today.
Speaker AYou can do this.
Speaker AI have confidence in you.
Speaker AHave confidence in yourself.
Speaker AStay financially savvy out there.
Speaker AGod bless you.
Speaker AAnd you have a great day today.
