Speaker A

You know what's funny? Everyone wants to know the best side hustles, but nobody asks about what best actually means. Is it best for making money? Is it best for taking the least time? Hey, we all want those ones that pay us a tum. Is it best for not making you quit after two weeks?See, the side hustle that's perfect for someone else might be completely wrong for you. And if you pick the wrong one, you won't just lose time, you're going to lose momentum and you're going to lose confidence. But what if you could find something that actually fits your real life? That's what we're going to figure out today. So here's the question we're answering on today's show. What are the best side hustles for busy people in 2026? And here's my promise for you.By the end of the episode, you're going to have a clear list of five side hustles that work for real schedules, honest pros and cons, no hype, and a way to try to figure out which one might be right for you right now in this season at your end, living with purpose and vision. Heart division. Hey, friend. Ralph Estep Jr. Here.Welcome to Financially Confident Christian, where we learn how to walk through life and money with wisdom, with peace, and with a heart anchored in God's truth. My mission is simple. To help you break the cycle of financial shame, build steady habits rooted in faith, and become financially confident Christians. And I'm so glad you're here today. Yesterday we talked about adding income without losing your life to a side hustle. We talked about balance and we talked about boundaries and making sure the hustle serves you, not the other way around. Today we're going to get more practical. I'm going to walk you through five side hustles that work for busy people, real options for real schedules. Here's what I hear all the time, Ralph. I need extra income. Every side hustle I see sounds like it'll take over my entire life. How can I actually do when I already have a full time job of family and zero free time? See, that's the question. And it's a great question. You're asking for something that really fits your reality. Let's find out.Have you ever scrolled through side hustle ideas online and you felt more overwhelmed than you did inspired? See, everything you looked at required skills you don't have or time. You don't have time for this, Ralph.Or maybe it was that startup money you definitely don't have or maybe it sounded perfect until you realized it would eat up every every evening and every weekend in your life. And you thought, can't do this. I'm already exhausted, friend. You're not alone thinking like that. And you're not being lazy. You're being realistic. Most side hustle advice isn't written for people with your schedule. But that doesn't mean there aren't options for you. See, not every side hustle is meant for every person, and that's okay. You don't need the side hustle that makes the most money. You. You need the one that you can sustain. Because the best side hustle in the world is worthless if you quit after three weeks. So today, I'm going to give you the most practical options, the ones with a track record of working for busy people. And you might say, ralph, well, how do you know this? Because I've been helping people navigate side income for years, 30 years to be exact. And I've seen what works. And unfortunately, I've seen what doesn't work. The side hustles I'm sharing today aren't trends. They aren't some fancy. No.Oh, here, you got to watch this. The best of 2026.A little bit of clickbait there, but these are proven, and they work across different schedules and different seasons of people's lives. And I want to start by telling you about my friend David. He spent months looking for the perfect side hustle. He looked at the videos, read the articles, got on list services and all that kind of stuff. But he never started anything. He said to me, ralph, he said, I'm afraid I'm going to pick the wrong one and I'm going to waste my time. And he's a friend of mine. So I asked him something kind of harsh. I said, what if picking something and learning from it is better than picking nothing and staying stuck? He looked at me like I was crazy, but this is what he needed to hear. And that very week, he chose something. He chose tutoring, something he already knew how to do.And three months later, he was making an extra $500 a month. Now, this isn't life changing money for David, but it was enough to stop living paycheck to paycheck. He understood his why he didn't want to live paycheck to paycheck anymore. See, that progress came from choosing and moving forward. So here's the question for today. Which side hustle fits my life right now?Not some fantasy life, not some ideal life, not some life you wish you had, not the One that sounds the coolest, not the one that makes the most money, but which actually fits your real schedule and your real season in your reality. Today, let's dive into this five side hustles for busy people. And for each one, I'm going to tell you who it's best for, what it requires and what to watch out for. Let's start with side hustle number one. This is a go to standard freelancing with skills you already have. All of us know how to do something.Maybe it's writing, designing. If you're like me, you know how to do bookkeeping.Maybe you're good with social media, maybe you're a video editor, or maybe you're good with administrative work. Freelancing means offering that skill to people who need it on your terms. That's what I love this one. And that's what makes this great. You choose your clients and you choose your hours. You can start with 5, 10 hours a week and grow when you're ready. And there's great platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, LinkedIn, they make connecting easy. But here's what you gotta watch out for. Building a client base takes time, is not gonna happen in the first week. And for the first few months you're learning to market yourself and set rates. But once you have those steady clients, it's predictable income and it also has flexibility. So here's who this works for.If you have a marketable skill and want to schedule control, this is golden. So that's the first one. Let's move on to side hustle number two, gig work for quick income. These are things like delivery, driving, doing ride shares, task based apps, and hey, even dog walking. Here's what makes this work. You can start taping today. You don't need a building, you don't need to wait if you need cash this month.Gig work gets you there fast. But here's what you got to watch out for. You're trading your time for your money. So when you stop, guess what? The income stops. And here's another thing a lot of people don't think about. Like with doordash and all those things, car expenses add up. But here's who this works for.If you need short term income without commitment, this is absolutely the best answer. And it's great for filling gaps or covering those unexpected expenses. But this is not usually a long term wealth builder. So just be aware of that. Here's side hustle number three, selling online. And here's the best part. You don't need to create products from Scratch. Listen to me on this one. Start by selling things you already own.Look in that closet. That clothes you haven't worn for years. Clean out the garage.Maybe you've got kids, you know, sell those kids toys and you got great platforms to do this like Facebook, Marketplace, Poshmark, ebay. There's a ton of these marketing sites and it's so simple, there's almost zero friction to get started. And here's what makes this powerful. You're decluttering and making money at the same time. You're cleaning up that mess. It's got zero startup costs because you already bought the stuff. And once you learn, you can source items to resell.Yeah, you can become. My grandmother used to do this.I told her she was a professional lawn sale service person because the garage sales, she would do this all the time because she got and signed stuff she would get for a couple pennies and sell them for a couple dollars. Another thing you can do here is maybe you create digital products. You can do templates and planners and printables. But here's what you gotta work watch out for here. It does take some consistency. You gotta list the stuff, you gotta take photos, you gotta communicate. You might have to ship and you might to meet people to buy this stuff. And that can be a hassle for some people. But here's the thing I love about it. The time investment is flexible.Just 30 minute chunks here and there and it can work. So here's who this works for. If you're building something without heavy startup costs, this is great. If you don't have a lot of money to get started and you look at your garage and you're out all kinds of stuff here, Ralph, I could do this. And if digital products can become passive income over time. That's the thing I like about this one. Passive income is amazing.Let's look at side hustle number four. And this is what David did. Tutoring or teaching. Leverage what you already know. Maybe you're good at math, maybe you're good at music.Or maybe you speak several languages. Maybe you're a coding person, you know how to write. Or maybe you're good at science. This is great for in person tutoring or online through wyzanttutor.com VIP kids. There's a lot of these things. Or maybe just post in the local Facebook group. Here's what I'm good at.If you either kid need help or you need to learn a second language, I can help you with this. Here's what makes this special. You're using knowledge you already carry, you're not going out and learning new skills. There's no training needed. And for many people and I found this with teachers. Now I'm not a teacher. It's not where my heart is. But teaching feels meaningful, which makes the time worthwhile. It's something they love to do.But here's what you got to watch out for. You need to have consistent scheduling. You got to have blocks of time where you're available because students rely on regular sessions. Here's what this works for. If you love helping people to learn and you have expertise to share, this is an incredibly rewarding side hustle. And here's side hustle number five Seasonal or part time work. This is great for retail during the holidays. Maybe there's some events going on in your area.Hey, even tax preparation is a great time of year to jump on a board of a tax preparation. Maybe you like coaching youth sports or doing summer camps. All of these things are seasonal and part time. Now what makes this helpful? It's temporary by design. You're not making a lifelong commitment. You're filling a specific income cap during a specific season. And here's the truth.Seasonal work often pays pretty well because they got to have you right then and there. But here's what you got to watch out for. Those hours can be demanding during peak times. They can truly become another full time job.But you understand it's temporary and you can live with it. So here's what works for if you need a burst during a certain time of year, this is perfect. It's income without that long term pressure. So I hope one of these five fits where you are right now. But let's anchor this in truth. Let's look at Colossians chapter 3, verse 23.It says whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for human masters. And that's why I want to put that in today. Your work, all of it, matters to God.Whether it's delivering groceries, tutoring, freelancing, selling online. God sees your faithfulness. The platform doesn't determine the purpose. Your heart determines the purpose. So whatever you choose, do it with excellence and integrity and do it as an act of worship. Here's your action step for today. I want you to pick just one hustle from today's list. Just one.Now that doesn't mean I want you to dive in head first. I just want you to spend 30 minutes this week researching it.Talk at people who are doing it, look at the platforms, read reviews watch a couple YouTube videos. Understand what you're getting into. You're not committing yet, you're just exploring because clarity comes through action, not overthinking. But go and explore it. See what fits your lifestyle, your real lifestyle, where you are today and see if one of these things fits your life. How about we pray together?Lord, thank you for the skills and opportunities you've placed in our lives. Help us to see them clearly. Guide us to the right work for this season.Work that honors you, work that serves our families and work that brings us peace. Give us wisdom to choose well and courage to start small. Remind us our worth doesn't come from hustle, it comes from you.And we ask this in Jesus name. Amen friend. If you're exploring side hustles and need a safe place to ask questions and plan wisely, you don't have to do this alone. The financially confident Christian community is a judge free place where people are building financial confidence one step at a time.
