Hey, let me ask you something.
Speaker AWhat happens after the breakthrough?
Speaker AYou know, that time when after all the bills are finally paid and the debt's going down and you're not stuck in survival mode anymore?
Speaker AWhat comes next?
Speaker AHave you ever really stopped to think about what comes after you reach financial freedom?
Speaker AWell, today I want to talk about something that goes way beyond budgets and bank accounts.
Speaker AToday we're talking about legacy.
Speaker AThat's what you'll leave behind, who you're becoming, and how it all matters to God.
Speaker AAre you ready?
Speaker AWell, let's do this.
Speaker BIn a world where crushing debt keeps you trapped, where living paycheck to paycheck has become your new normal, and where the dream of retirement seems impossibly out of reach, there's hope.
Speaker BJoin financial evangelist Ralph Estepp Jr.
Speaker BA man who's walked through the fire of financial failure and emerged stronger on the other side.
Speaker BWelcome to Ask Ralph, the show where real world experience meets biblical truth.
Speaker BTo break the bondage of financial despair, get ready to take control of your money, break free from the financial stress, and align your resources with God's purpose for your life.
Speaker BThis is Ask Ralph with Ralph Estepp Jr.
Speaker AHi there, friend.
Speaker AI'm Ralph, and I'm really glad you're here today.
Speaker AThank you for taking a few moments to join me today.
Speaker AI really feel like this is going to be profitable for you.
Speaker AI want you to know this episode is close to my heart.
Speaker AToday I was so excited as I was putting it together, because it's not just about money.
Speaker AIt's truly about meaning.
Speaker ASee, most days I.
Speaker AI talk about money.
Speaker AIt's what I do for a living.
Speaker AI'm an accountant.
Speaker AThis is what I do every day.
Speaker AI talk to people about money.
Speaker ABut today is going to be so much different than that.
Speaker AGot a great question from a person named David who.
Speaker AWho has this really compelling question, and I wanted to share it with you today.
Speaker AIt says this, Ralph, I'm starting to see the light at the end of the cycle of shame I've been in with my finances, and now I need to know, how do I build a financial legacy for my family and for God's kingdom?
Speaker AAnd, David, let me just tell you, that was a great question.
Speaker AI was so excited to receive that.
Speaker AAnd I just want to say first, congratulations, David.
Speaker AClearly you've been putting in that daily consistent effort that I talk about every day on this show, and you're seeing results.
Speaker AWe talked yesterday about that brick by brick approach, David, and you're clearly seeing those results, and.
Speaker AAnd you're starting to have what we call breathing room.
Speaker AAnd you're actually starting to get to that next step and starting to think about those things that come next.
Speaker AAnd I know it hasn't been easy for you.
Speaker ASo again I say congratulations.
Speaker ABut your question is so powerful.
Speaker AAnd maybe you're listening right now, and maybe that's the same question that's been tugging on your heart as well.
Speaker ASo let me ask you this very simple question, and you've got to be honest with yourself.
Speaker AAre you just managing your money or are you building something with it?
Speaker AAnd see, that's a tough question.
Speaker AAre you just managing your money or are you building something with it?
Speaker ABecause you need to understand this.
Speaker AThere is a difference.
Speaker AThere truly is.
Speaker AThere is a difference between managing money and building something with it.
Speaker AAnd here's the main pain point right here.
Speaker AI want you to pause what you're doing right now because this is critical and you've got to hear this.
Speaker AToo many of us are moving financially.
Speaker AWe're, we're on that conveyor belt.
Speaker AWe're moving.
Speaker AWe're not aiming at anything.
Speaker AListen, I'm someone who enjoys going to the shooting range.
Speaker ASomething I've enjoyed doing since I was just a young guy.
Speaker AI remember going out in the backyard with my grandfather with the old.22 rifle, and we'd set up a couple cans at the end of the driveway and, and we'd shoot the.22.
Speaker ANow, he had a big piece of property, so it wasn't like in the middle of a subdivision somewhere.
Speaker AAnd we'd have some great times just doing some target shooting.
Speaker ABut imagine for a moment if I didn't even set up a target, you know, there wouldn't be any can at the end of the diary.
Speaker AWhat would I be shooting at?
Speaker AAnd how would I manage to see where to even aim that gun?
Speaker AAnd here's a simple truth bomb.
Speaker AYour finances work the exact same way.
Speaker ASee, you could be working hard, you're trying to stay ahead, but if you don't have a clear picture of your why, and so many of us have failed to set up that target, we failed to set up that why.
Speaker AAnd here's the problem.
Speaker AWithout vision, we drift.
Speaker AWithout vision, we spend.
Speaker AAnd without vision, we just barely survive.
Speaker AWe just don't build anything.
Speaker AAnd listen, I get it.
Speaker AComing out of survival mode is hard.
Speaker ADavid, I heard that in your question today.
Speaker AAnd it's been that day to day grind, to even find breathing room.
Speaker AI call it margin.
Speaker ABut that daily day to day grind has left you with just, just, just barely enough breathing Room.
Speaker ABut listen, here's the thing I need you to hear today.
Speaker AIf you don't aim at something, you'll hit nothing.
Speaker ASee, here's the truth.
Speaker ANo target equals no vision.
Speaker AAnd let me just tell you something very bold.
Speaker AYou are not put here just to pay bills and die.
Speaker ASo many people saying I'm on this conveyor belt route.
Speaker AI guess my life is all about just paying those bills.
Speaker AAnd then someday somebody is going to have to take care of that.
Speaker AThat's not why you're here.
Speaker ASo here's the shift I want to challenge you with.
Speaker AHere's a shift I want you to make today.
Speaker AJust one thing, just one simple thing.
Speaker AI want you to write your, what I'll call your financial legacy vision statement.
Speaker ANow I know that sounds like a really complicated thing, but.
Speaker ABut stick with me on this.
Speaker AAnd I'm not Talking about some 10 year plan or some fancy spreadsheet.
Speaker AIt can be fancy, but it doesn't have to be.
Speaker AI'm just talking about getting a clear in your head and in your about what kind of impact you want to make with your money.
Speaker AIt's really that simple.
Speaker AWhat kind of impact?
Speaker AWhat is that?
Speaker ALegacy for a fancy term.
Speaker ASo I challenge you with this today.
Speaker ATake a few quiet minutes.
Speaker AThis is a time when you've got no phone, no distractions, just you and God.
Speaker AMaybe a great thing to do is take a walk.
Speaker AI know when, when I get out walking sometimes and people get annoyed with me sometimes because I have a lot of colleagues that I work with and they'll get an email from me.
Speaker AI like to get out early in the morning, maybe about 5 or 5:30 and.
Speaker AAnd I'm out walking.
Speaker AThings just come into my head and of course I'll send those texts or send those emails to somebody and they're like, Ralph, you know, dude, nobody else gets up at this early in the morning.
Speaker ABut I want you to do the same thing.
Speaker AI want you to go out and just think.
Speaker AI want you to ask yourself this, what do I want my money to do?
Speaker AHow do I want to bless my children?
Speaker AWhat kind of giver do I want to be?
Speaker AAnd what do I want to leave behind?
Speaker ANot.
Speaker AAnd I'm not just talking about dollars, but in values.
Speaker AAnd then I want you to write it down, just one or two sentences.
Speaker AIt's really that simple.
Speaker AI'll give you an example.
Speaker ANow this one is a little lofty when I reread this this morning getting ready for the show.
Speaker ABut here's my example.
Speaker AI want to build a Financial legacy that provides for my children, supports the spread of the gospel, and models generosity and wisdom for those who come after me.
Speaker ANow, that's probably a little bit more involved and eloquent than you need to, and that's a mouthful.
Speaker ABut it needs to be your vision.
Speaker AIt needs to be your aim.
Speaker AAnd let me tell you, it is critical and it is crucial that you have that target set up.
Speaker ABecause here's the thing.
Speaker AEvery financial decision becomes clearer when you know your why.
Speaker ASee, when you know your why, you're not just reacting.
Speaker AYou're building.
Speaker AI remember a season in my life when I was going through a really tough time, and.
Speaker AAnd I felt like all I did was react and.
Speaker AAnd react.
Speaker AAnd I bought one of those little rubber bracelets.
Speaker AYou.
Speaker AI guess they're silicone, and I had printed on it.
Speaker ADon't just react.
Speaker AAnd I like that, because when I started to react, I'd take that thing and I'd snap it and remind me, I need you to do the same thing.
Speaker ABecause you're not just saving.
Speaker AThink about it in these terms you're sowing.
Speaker AYou're sewing for that legacy for the future.
Speaker ASo how about we pray together?
Speaker AI always think that prayer is a great thing to do.
Speaker AWe'll take our thoughts to God.
Speaker ASo let me pray with you today.
Speaker AHeavenly Father, thank you for this person listening right now.
Speaker AThank you for the purpose you've placed in their.
Speaker AIn their life, Lord, and the resources you've put in their hands.
Speaker ABecause, Lord, we know you give them all to us.
Speaker ALord, we just ask that you give us clarity.
Speaker AGod, we know that we don't just need for today's needs.
Speaker AWe need for something bigger than that.
Speaker AWe want to build for tomorrow's legacy.
Speaker AHelp us to see what you see, Lord, and give us the courage to.
Speaker ATo dream beyond survival.
Speaker ABecause, Lord, we know you want so much more for us and really to truly build something that brings you glory.
Speaker ALord, I ask that our finances become a tool for freedom, a tool for making an impact, and a tool for blessing others.
Speaker AAnd, Lord, I just place this all at your feet.
Speaker AI ask this in the name of Jesus.
Speaker AAmen.
Speaker AWhat a great prayer.
Speaker AAnd here's your next step.
Speaker ADo this today.
Speaker AWrite your legacy vision.
Speaker AListen, don't overthink it.
Speaker AEven if it's messy.
Speaker AIt does not have to be eloquent, even if it's small.
Speaker AJust get it out, put it onto paper.
Speaker ASee, because here's the truth.
Speaker AYou don't need a million dollars to build a legacy.
Speaker AYou just need a vision.
Speaker AI love what the Book of Proverbs, chapter 13:22 says says this.
Speaker AIt says, a good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children.
Speaker ABut it gives us this warning.
Speaker ABut a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.
Speaker ASo I circle back today and I ask you this very simple question.
Speaker AWhat's your vision?
Speaker AWhat's your legacy?
Speaker AAnd it's different for everybody.
Speaker AWell, thank you for hanging out with me today.
Speaker AIf this show has blessed you, I want to encourage you to pass it on to someone who's ready to think bigger.

Speaker ASo until next time, I'm going to encourage you to keep building.
Speaker AI want to encourage you to keep believing.
Speaker AAnd never forget you're not just managing money, you're truly building a legacy.
Speaker AAnd as I always say, stay financially savvy.
Speaker AAnd and may God bless you abundantly today.
Speaker AAnd go write that vision statement.
