You've chosen your debt payoff strategy.
Ralph:You know which debt you're attacking first, and that's huge.
Ralph:But now comes the real question.
Ralph:How do you find any extra money in an already tight budget to
Ralph:actually pay it off faster?
Ralph:If your budget feels maxed out, well stick around because we're gonna find
Ralph:that money together today on the show.
Ralph:Hey there.
Ralph:Welcome back to your Daily, financially Confident Christian.
Ralph:I'm Ralph and it's really awesome to see you dedicating this time to your
Ralph:financial health and your financial peace.
Ralph:This is the show that helps you answer the question, how can I become a financially?
Ralph:Confident Christian and we're walking step by step through the series, dealing
Ralph:with the stress of money worries.
Ralph:Now, yesterday you made a powerful decision by choosing your debt payoff
Ralph:strategy, whether that's the snowball method or the avalanche method.
Ralph:Today we're gonna get practical about fueling that strategy.
Ralph:Because a debt payoff plan is just a plan until you add fuel to the fire, right?
Ralph:And that fuel is extra money.
Ralph:Money beyond those minimum payments that you can throw at your target debt.
Ralph:But if your budget feels like it's already stretched thin, the question is this.
Ralph:Where on earth do I find that extra money?
Ralph:So let's dig in.
Ralph:Where can I find extra money to pay off debt faster?
Ralph:Now, maybe you've looked at your budget after paying for essentials and minimums
Ralph:and thought there's nothing left, Ralph.
Ralph:How can I possibly pay off debt any faster?
Ralph:And then you start feeling discouraged, like aggressive debt payoff.
Ralph:Well, that's just for those people who make a lot more money than I do.
Ralph:This feeling of what we call a zero surplus budget is a significant struggle.
Ralph:It makes you feel stuck, like debt freedom will take forever and it
Ralph:robs you of the motivation that comes from seeing real progress.
Ralph:'cause you know you should pay extra, but you just don't see
Ralph:how, and that uncertainty, well, that just adds to your stress.
Ralph:Here's the thing, finding extra money isn't always about getting a raise.
Ralph:Now, that does help.
Ralph:I'm not gonna tell you it doesn't.
Ralph:That does help, but more often, especially when you're first starting out, it's
Ralph:about wisely managing and redirecting the money that you already have.
Ralph:It's about making intentional choices about where your money goes.
Ralph:Think back to the biblical principles of stewardship we've discussed.
Ralph:Being a good steward isn't just about managing a lot, it's about
Ralph:being faithful and diligent with what you have no matter the amount.
Ralph:Jesus commended the widow who gave just two small copper coins noting
Ralph:that she had given all she had.
Ralph:That's in Mark chapter 12 and also in Luke chapter 21.
Ralph:Her faithfulness wasn't measured by the amount.
Ralph:Hear me on this.
Ralph:It wasn't measured by the amount, but it was measured by her heart
Ralph:and her willingness to give even from her place of need.
Ralph:In the same way, finding even small amounts to redirect towards a debt
Ralph:is an act of faithful diligence and prioritizing financial freedom.
Ralph:Yes, it requires sacrifice, but it aligns your actions with your
Ralph:goal of getting out of debt.
Ralph:And here's the best part.
Ralph:It honors God with your focused effort.
Ralph:So what can we do?
Ralph:How do you find this valuable extra money in your existing budget to accelerate your
Ralph:debt payoff and reduce long-term stress?
Ralph:I.
Ralph:The single essential solution is to diligently view your recent spending with
Ralph:a critical eye and identify specific.
Ralph:Now listen, these are gonna be non-essential areas where you can
Ralph:make temporary reductions to free up cash solely for debt payoff.
Ralph:This is about what I call finding margin by making intentional trade-offs for the
Ralph:sake of accelerating your debt freedom.
Ralph:So, okay, here's your one action step for today, specifically
Ralph:focused on finding money in your budget for debt acceleration.
Ralph:I want you to start by reviewing, like I said, your recent spending.
Ralph:Look at your, your spending tracking data from the past week or two.
Ralph:What do you see?
Ralph:Where is your money actually going beyond the absolute essentials?
Ralph:You know, we're not talking about housing, we're not talking about basic food.
Ralph:We're not talking about, minimum utility, just where is it going.
Ralph:The next thing I want you to do is I want you to identify one or two
Ralph:non-essential areas that you can reduce.
Ralph:Find just one or two specific spending categories where you could realistically
Ralph:just cut back for the next month or two, but be honest with yourself.
Ralph:Common areas are, are things like dining out or entertainment or
Ralph:maybe those impulse purchases or subscriptions that you don't use much.
Ralph:Or even, and listen to me on this one, A temporary reduction in a savings goal.
Ralph:While you're aggressively attacking debt, though, maintain that small
Ralph:emergency fund, I think that's important.
Ralph:Then I want you to determine the realistic amount that you can redirect
Ralph:based on where you can cut back.
Ralph:Calculate a realistic dollar amount that you could free up
Ralph:this pay period or this month.
Ralph:Listen, even if it's just $20 or $50, hey, if it's a hundred dollars.
Ralph:Every extra dollar will help.
Ralph:And finally, I need you to commit to redirecting that specific amount.
Ralph:Write down that specific amount that you are committing to add to
Ralph:your minimum payment on your target debt from your payoff strategy.
Ralph:And when you make your debt payment, make sure you add this extra amount.
Ralph:That's the critical part.
Ralph:Now you're probably asking Ralph, why does this help?
Ralph:I believe this single action, it directly fights that struggle of feeling like
Ralph:you have no control or you have no way out to pay off that debt faster.
Ralph:It truly does replace hopelessness with a concrete plan to
Ralph:find those funds and listen.
Ralph:In the end, it accelerates your debt payoff timeline, saving you money on
Ralph:interest in the long run, and giving you some powerful motivation as you
Ralph:see your debt balance shrink faster.
Ralph:And it turns spending cuts from feeling like deprivation into feeling like
Ralph:purposeful steps towards freedom.
Ralph:Well, let's pray together.
Ralph:Father God, thank you for the resources you provide and for
Ralph:calling us to be wise stewards.
Ralph:We confess that our budgets often feel tight and finding extra
Ralph:money, it feels impossible, Lord.
Ralph:Please open our eyes into areas in our spending where
Ralph:we can realistically cut back.
Ralph:And Lord, we ask that you would grant us the discipline and the willingness
Ralph:to make some temporary sacrifices for the greater goal of debt freedom.
Ralph:Help us to see these reductions, not as deprivation, Lord, but as
Ralph:powerful steps guided by your wisdom.
Ralph:Empower us to redirect those funds effectively and accelerate
Ralph:our journey out of debt.
Ralph:And we ask this with confidence.
Ralph:In Jesus' name, Amen.
Ralph:Finding even small amounts to throw at your debt makes a huge difference.
Ralph:You are actively taking steps to shorten your debt journey and
Ralph:reduce that long-term stress.
Ralph:So keep reviewing, keep finding those dollars and keep fueling your plan.
Ralph:You've got this.
