I'm a Christian, and I'm a conservative.
Speaker AAnd when the news broke that Charlie Kirk had been assassinated, it hit me like a thunderclap.
Speaker AI felt shock.
Speaker AI feel grief.
Speaker AAnd honestly, I feel a lot of deep confusion.
Speaker AI started thinking to myself, how could this happen?
Speaker AWhy would God allow such a bold voice for truth be silenced?
Speaker AAnd bigger than that, I started thinking, what do we do now?
Speaker AAnd if you've been asking those same questions, you're not alone today, because I've been asking them, too.
Speaker ABut here's what I want you to hear today.
Speaker AWhen a Christian leader falls, and Charlie Kirk was absolutely a Christian leader, the gospel doesn't fall with him.
Speaker AWhen one voice is silenced, God raises others.
Speaker AAnd if you're listening right now, if you're watching this right now, that other might just be you.
Speaker ASo let's talk about these questions and our response to this tragedy today on this bonus episode of the show.
Speaker AWelcome back to Truth Unveiled with Ralph.
Speaker AI'm Ralph Eastep Jr. And this is the place where we uncover God's perspective on the issues that shake our world.
Speaker AAnd yes, yesterday's news was shocking.
Speaker ABut more importantly than that, we need to understand how to process it, how to respond to it.
Speaker AAnd it's my intention today to share with you exactly how I think we need to do that.
Speaker ABecause the assassination of a Christian leader like Charlie Kirk forces us to face some really hard realities.
Speaker AAnd for some of us, you might be one of these people right now.
Speaker AIt sparks deep despair, because, trust me, I'm feeling that myself.
Speaker AYou start to think to yourself, they've taken away a defender of truth, Ralph.
Speaker AWho's going to stand now?
Speaker AAnd for many of us, anger.
Speaker AYou start to think to yourself, they've silenced him.
Speaker ASo we need to stand up and fight back with fury, Ralph.
Speaker AAnd for many others, if we're being honest with ourselves, I'm probably one of these people, too.
Speaker AIt creates fear.
Speaker AYou start to think to yourself, if someone like him could be targeted, what about me?
Speaker ACould I be the next of that target?
Speaker AListen, I do a Christian conservative podcast.
Speaker ACould I be a target of this?
Speaker AAnd I want you to understand right now, these emotions are real, but they can't be where we remain.
Speaker AAnd trust me, it'll be real easy for us to stay right there, to stay in those emotions of fear and anger and not really knowing what to do next.
Speaker ABe really easy to stay there, wouldn't it?
Speaker ABut history proves this.
Speaker AWhen leaders fall, God's kingdom keeps moving forward.
Speaker AAnd as I prepare for this special bonus episode, Today I thought, what can I say that would be impactful?
Speaker AAnd I went to the Bible and I found the Book of Acts, chapter seven.
Speaker AWhen it talked about Stephen, now here Stephen was stoned.
Speaker AFor him, it looked like the end.
Speaker ABut the church scattered, and what did the Lord do?
Speaker ABut even in that, the Gospel spread across the known world.
Speaker ASee, the enemy thought he had won.
Speaker AAnd for so many people today, that might be feeling the same emotions that I'm feeling.
Speaker AYou might be thinking the enemy won as well.
Speaker ABut look back to Stephen.
Speaker AGod multiplied his mission, and that same could be true today.
Speaker AYou may be like Ralph, okay, but where do we start with this?
Speaker AI think the only place we can truly start today is we got to anchor our hearts in God's Word.
Speaker ASo let's get right into God's word today because this is where we really need to remain and where we really need to find strength today.
Speaker ABecause I know, listen, it's hard to find strength today, but let's get into God's word.
Speaker ALet's look at the Book of Psalms, chapter 90, verse 12.
Speaker ATeach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Speaker AAs I thought about that, Charlie's life reminds us of this truth.
Speaker AAnd you got to hear this right now.
Speaker ANone of us is promised a tomorrow.
Speaker AWe're just not.
Speaker AThe question isn't how long we will live, but how faithful we live the days we're given.
Speaker AWhen Charlie decided to go on this campus tour, he understood that he did not have a promise tomorrow.
Speaker ANow, he had a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Speaker AAnd we'll talk about that in a couple minutes.
Speaker ABut what does the Book of Psalms tell us?
Speaker ATeach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Speaker ABecause, listen, it's not about how long you live.
Speaker AIt's about how faithful you live when you're given those days.
Speaker AAnd we need to understand it.
Speaker AWe need to really take that to heart.
Speaker AHow are we living our lives right now?
Speaker AWe all can fathom that there's only a certain number of days we have, but how are we living them?
Speaker AAre we living them with a wisdom for God?
Speaker ALet's look at the book of second Timothy, chapter four, verse seven.
Speaker AAnd this one was really reassuring to me as I thought about preparing for today.
Speaker AAgain, this is second Timothy, chapter four, verse seven.
Speaker AIt says, I have fought the good fight.
Speaker AI have finished the race.
Speaker AI kept the faith.
Speaker ASee, right there, That's a testimony of a faithful life.
Speaker AAnd it's the legacy that Charlie left behind, of life, of courage and a life of conviction.
Speaker AThat's his testimony.
Speaker AI have fought the good fight.
Speaker AI have finished the race.
Speaker AI have kept the faith.
Speaker AWhen you ask Charlie about his Christianity, he was very bold about it.
Speaker AWe've got to do the same thing.
Speaker ALet's look at the Book of John, chapter 16, verse 33.
Speaker AIn this world, you will have trouble, but take heart.
Speaker AI have overcome the world.
Speaker ANow, that's powerful right there, isn't it?
Speaker AWhen you're feeling down, when you're feeling about.
Speaker AWhat are we going to do, Ralph?
Speaker AWhat are we going to take with.
Speaker AWhat are we going to learn from this?
Speaker AWell, Jesus told us plainly trouble is going to come.
Speaker AIt came yesterday in Utah.
Speaker AIt came to Charlie, came to Charlie's family, came to all those people that were there.
Speaker ABut what else did Jesus tell us?
Speaker AVictory is already ours in him.
Speaker AAnd I want you to hear Charlie's own words.
Speaker AThis is something he spoke in an interview.
Speaker AHe said, I mean, I'm nothing without Jesus.
Speaker AI'm a sinner.
Speaker AI fall incredibly short of the glory of God.
Speaker AWe all do.
Speaker AI gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade, and it's the most important decision I ever made.
Speaker AAnd everything I do incorporates Jesus Christ.
Speaker AAgain, that's directly from Charlie Kirk.
Speaker AThink about the humility in that statement, that clear declaration of faith.
Speaker AAnd if you think he wasn't courageous, you can just feel it in that statement where you can see where his.
Speaker AHis courage came from.
Speaker ASo again, I come back.
Speaker AWhat do we learn from today?
Speaker AWhat is our main takeaway from today?
Speaker AHow do we move forward with this?
Speaker AAnd I've got a couple of points I really want to relate to you today.
Speaker AThe first thing we've got to do, we've got to live a life of conviction that inspires others.
Speaker AThat's where we've got to start.
Speaker AIf you learn nothing else about this situation, live a life of conviction that inspires others.
Speaker AThat's what Charlie Kirk wasn't afraid to speak as boldly and speak his mind as a First Amendment person.
Speaker AAnd whether you agreed with every position or his or not, his courage inspired things.
Speaker AThousands of young people, young people found confidence in him.
Speaker AChristians found renewed boldness in him.
Speaker AAnd that's what conviction does.
Speaker ALive a life of conviction that inspires others, just like Charlie did.
Speaker AThink of one candle in a dark room.
Speaker AJust picture this in your own mind.
Speaker AYou've got this one room completely dark.
Speaker AJust got one candle in the center of that room.
Speaker AThat candle doesn't just provide light for itself, it gives courage for other lights on their own.
Speaker AAnd Charlie once said this.
Speaker AHe said, I want to be remembered for having courage for my faith.
Speaker AAll I can say to that is, wow, that's powerful.
Speaker AYou didn't hear him say he wanted to be remembered for fame.
Speaker AYou didn't hear him say he wanted to be remembered for influence.
Speaker AWhat did he want to be remembered for?
Speaker ACourage for Christ.
Speaker ASo as you're listening this or as you're watching this right now, your conviction matters as well.
Speaker AYou might not have a stage, you might not have a microphone like I have, but you can have courage in your family, you can have courage in your workplace, and you can have courage in your community.
Speaker AAnd that courage can inspire others to stand when it's time to stand.
Speaker ASo it starts there.
Speaker AAnd now you might be saying, ralph, okay, well, we got to respond to this.
Speaker AAnd I agree with you.
Speaker AWe do need to respond to this.
Speaker ABut our response has got to be rooted in hope, not in fear.
Speaker AIt's so easy to live in fear right now.
Speaker AA Pew research study found that 4 in 10Americans say fear of violence shapes their willingness to speak publicly about politics or faith.
Speaker AFour in ten Americans are afraid.
Speaker AThey have fear about speaking about publicly about their politics or faith.
Speaker ABut what does scripture say?
Speaker AYou got to write this on your heart today.
Speaker AThis is from second Timothy, chapter one, verse seven.
Speaker AScripture says, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind.
Speaker AMind that is so reassuring right now.
Speaker AWe can't continue to live in fear.
Speaker AWe've got to see the hope.
Speaker AAnd that hope comes to us.
Speaker ALike Charlie knew from the life of Jesus Christ and having that relationship with Jesus.
Speaker AAnd the early Christian church knew this well.
Speaker AWhen leaders like James were killed by Herod, when Paul was imprisoned, the church didn't shrink back.
Speaker AIt grew stronger.
Speaker AAnd it carried that message further and further and further to today.
Speaker ASo our response is not despair.
Speaker AAnd listen, it's not revenge either.
Speaker AI hear a lot of knuckleheads out there talking about, we gotta avenge this, we gotta have revenge.
Speaker ARalph, that's not where our response needs to be.
Speaker AOur response need to be hope in Christ.
Speaker AThey might be saying, ralph, what can I do?
Speaker AWell, here's what you can do.
Speaker AYou can carry that torch forward.
Speaker ASee, God's plan was never dependent on one person.
Speaker AAll through scripture, it wasn't about one person.
Speaker ANot Paul, not Peter, not Billy Graham, one of my favorite preachers of all time, and not Charlie Kirk either.
Speaker ASee, the kingdom advances because God empowers ordinary believers.
Speaker AJust like you, just like me.
Speaker AAnd Charlie was Outspoken about why he believed this matter.
Speaker AThis is what he said.
Speaker AOne of the reasons we're living through a constitutional crisis is that we no longer have a Christian nation, but we have a Christian form of government, and they're incompatible.
Speaker AYou cannot have liberty if you don't have a Christian population.
Speaker AThat's right from Charlie Kirk.
Speaker AAnd in another moment, he declared this.
Speaker AHe said, this is a Christian state.
Speaker AI'd like to see it stay that way.
Speaker ASo whether or not you agree with every word, what's clear is this.
Speaker ACharlie lived with fire in his bones.
Speaker AHe lived with a passion for faith, and he lived with a passion for freedom and a cause worth fighting for.
Speaker AAnd friend, right now, as you're listening or watching this, the question now is, who will carry that torch forward?
Speaker AWill you carry that torch forward?
Speaker AThink of Elijah in First Kings, chapter 19.
Speaker AHe thought he was alone, but God reminded him there were still 7,000 who had not bowed to Baal.
Speaker ASo in the midst of this sadness, you might be feeling really small right now.
Speaker AYou might be feeling insignificant, you might be feeling unqualified.
Speaker ABut let me tell you something right now.
Speaker AGod doesn't call the qualified.
Speaker AHe qualifies the called.
Speaker AAnd that's so important that you got to hear this.
Speaker AYou know, Billy Graham once said this.
Speaker AHe said, courage is contagious.
Speaker AWhen a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.
Speaker AAnd that's exactly what we see here today.
Speaker ACharlie's courage stiffened the spines of many.
Speaker AI want to challenge you.
Speaker ANow it's your turn.
Speaker AReminds me of C.S.
Speaker Alewis.
Speaker AC.S.
Speaker Alewis wrote this during the Second World War.
Speaker AHe said, courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point.
Speaker AAnd so you need to hear this right now.
Speaker AThis is a testing point for us in so many ways.
Speaker AThis is a testing point for us.
Speaker AWill we choose to live in fear?
Speaker ABecause we could stay there.
Speaker AWe could live in that constant state of fear.
Speaker AOr on the other hand, will we live with faith filled courage?
Speaker AThat's the question you've really got to ask.
Speaker AIf you want to get past this, you've got to ask yourself that very simple question.
Speaker AAre we going to continue to live in fear?
Speaker AAre we going to live with faith?
Speaker AFaith filled courage?
Speaker AMake your choice.
Speaker ABecause this is what culture tells us.
Speaker AThis is why I do this show.
Speaker AUnveiled with Ralph.
Speaker ATruth Unveiled with wrath.
Speaker ABecause culture says when a leader dies, the movement dies.
Speaker AWell, I can tell you right now, Charlie Kirk and Turning Point did not die yesterday.
Speaker AAnd in Matthew 16:18, Jesus said this.
Speaker AHe Said, the gates of hell will not prevail against my church.
Speaker AWe can't let the gates of hell.
Speaker AWe can't let the enemy prevail against us because one of our people has died.
Speaker AThe movement remains.
Speaker AThe movement continues.
Speaker AJesus will not allow the gates of hell to prevail against his church.
Speaker AI talked a few minutes ago about outrage because culture says, well, respond with outrage.
Speaker AGo out there and be outrageous.
Speaker ABut that's not the teaching of Jesus.
Speaker AIn the same book of Matthew, Jesus said this, and this is Matthew, chapter 5, verse 44.
Speaker AHe said, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Speaker AOne of the things that I know about Charlie Kirk, and he, not somebody I knew a lot about, to be very honest with you, I knew a little bit about him.
Speaker ABut he in so many times said, let's debate, let's talk.
Speaker ABecause he said, when debate stops and talking stops, that's when violence happens.
Speaker ABut we've got to love our enemies and we got to pray for those who persecute you.
Speaker AAnd that is really hard to do right now.
Speaker AI'm struggling with that right at the moment as I deliver this.
Speaker ABut Jesus told us to do this, and we've got to do this.
Speaker AAnd at the same time, culture tells us, be afraid.
Speaker ALive in fear.
Speaker AWorry about whatever's going on around you.
Speaker ABut Jesus says something so much more brilliant than that.
Speaker AHe says, take heart, for I have overcome the world.
Speaker AThink about that for a second.
Speaker ATake heart, for I have overcome the world.
Speaker ASo, friend, today is not the end.
Speaker AYes, it's the end for Charlie and his earthly body.
Speaker ABut let me tell you right now, he is in glory with the Father right now.
Speaker ABut this is not the end for us.
Speaker AThis is the beginning.
Speaker AAnd Charlie Zeif reminds us of something.
Speaker AOne person with conviction, just one person, can make a huge difference.
Speaker ABut his death also reminds us of something.
Speaker AEvery believer has got to carry the mission forward.
Speaker ASo here's your one action step for today.
Speaker AI want you to pray this simple prayer with me right now, Lord.
Speaker AWhere do you want me to be bold this week?
Speaker AWhere do you want me to be bold this week, Lord?
Speaker AAnd then take that step of courage.
Speaker ALet's pray together, Father.
Speaker AToday we grieve.
Speaker AWe grieve the loss of a bold voice, Lord.
Speaker AWe grieve the brokenness of this world.
Speaker ABut we don't grieve as those without hope, Lord, because our hope is in you.
Speaker ASo right now, Lord, we pray that you would strengthen the church, raise up men and women of conviction, just like Charlie was Give each of us courage to carry that torch forward, Lord.
Speaker AAnd Lord, we take comfort in knowing that when Charlie entered your presence, he heard the words we all long to hear.
Speaker AWell done, good and faithful servant.
Speaker ACome and share your master's happiness.
Speaker AAnd Lord, we just ask that that would be true for our lives as well.
Speaker AHelp us to live faithfully, Lord, so that when our race is done, we too will hear those words.
Speaker AAnd friend, if you're listening right now and you've never given your life to Jesus, this is the moment for you because you might not have another chance.
Speaker AAnd if you've never accepted Christ as your personal savior, I'm going to encourage you right now.
Speaker APray with me right now.
Speaker ALord Jesus, I know I'm a sinner and I believe you died for me and rose again.
Speaker AAnd I trust you today and forever as my Savior.
Speaker ACome into my life.
Speaker AForgive me Lord, and make me new.
Speaker AI choose to follow you starting today and for the rest of my life.
Speaker AAnd we ask all these things in the name of Jesus.
Speaker AAmen.
Speaker AI just want to thank you for spending time with me today.
Speaker AAnd if today's message has encouraged you, I want you to share it with somebody else who needs so we are all are feeling so many emotions right now, but we can provide hope for somebody.
Speaker ASo please do me a favor and share this message with them.
Speaker AAnd as I close today, let's live in such a way that one day we too will hear those words.
Speaker AWell done, good and faithful servant.
Speaker AGod bless you.
